Yogli Mogli Attacks Me With A Job Interview

So I was supposed to post this blog post yesterday, but I got distracted last night. So everything below this message was from yesterday. I’m going to blog another post after this. It’s just passed noon and so much is happening already! Yesterday’s post:

I am super tired.

So many things have happened today and I don’t even know where to begin. I was awake at 11:30 AM today when my phone rang. Anyone who knows me should know that I do not pick up phone calls from numbers I don’t recognize. So I took one look at the number and passed it to Peter for him to answer it. When he picked up, I could hear the woman ask for me through the phone.  He passes me the phone. She probably said a few things to me after I said, “Hello?” but all I understood was, “Thank you for the resume.” I immediately thought to myself and I tried to figure out what company out of all the ones I’ve ever applied for decided to call me back. I pretty much asked her, “What company is this again?” “Yogli Mogli,” she replied. Ooohhh …. now I remember. It was the management position. Right away, I went into interview mode and we had a straight out interview over the phone. She asked me if I could make it in today for another interview. Wow, that was fast, I thought. She wanted me to come in at 1:30 PM and stupidly, I agreed. Common sense kicked in about ten minutes later and I realized that it was a bit further up Roswell Road than I remembered. I decided to call her back to reschedule for a later time but I all I got was her voicemail. I left one and decided to try and get there on time anyway. She calls me after I hop out of my shower and tells me that she can’t do 2:30 PM, which was what I originally requested since she had an interview at that time, but she asked if 2 PM was fine. I got dressed and didn’t even bother to put on flats or heels.

Honestly, I know people say you should dress to impress but to hell with that. I applied to Bridals by Lori in April this year and the people working there and the owners could’ve had enough decency to give me a call back, even if I didn’t make the cut. I don’t give a shit if not calling the rejects is a norm, but that says a lot about your company and your attitude towards people when you don’t properly follow up. So seriously, I’m just going to be myself. I’m not going to cover my tattoo or fake it because you either like me or you don’t. And if going to a job interview means I have to wear heels and deal with the pain that follows days after wearing them, I’d rather not. So guess what I did? I wore tennis shoes and it felt as good as ever to! I was confidently comfortable and happy. It didn’t matter that my nails were painted a bold, hot pink from Essie last night. I’m young and I’m entitled to live my youth as my mother says. I wasn’t worried about trying to be someone I wasn’t. If they don’t want me, that’s fine. Someone out there will.

So I had to take a bus, a train, and another bus to get to the place, but while I was on the train, a very nicely dressed woman begins vomiting on the train about fifteen feet away from me. Her head was hung low and all I heard was a lot of water splashing onto the floor. I honestly thought some lady had broken her water at first. It’s pretty messed up because this other woman nowhere near her dashes to the other end of the train. Probably she was afraid she’d start barfing too or maybe she was a germophobe. Two other woman offered her water and that seemed to help her a lot. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any water.

When I got off the train and walked down to the bus terminal of the station, I decided to sit down on a bench between two ladies, both of them were eyeing the bus route brochure extensively. Then, the girl to my left turns towards me.

“Do you ride this bus often?” She said.

“No, not really. I’ve only taken this bus twice this year.”

“Oh, alright.” She sounded a bit let down so I decided to find out. If I knew anything, I guess I could help her.

“Where are you trying to go?” I asked.

“Yogli Mogli. I have a job interview.”

“Me, too!”

“Really? Oh my gosh!”

“We’ll just go together. It’ll be easier that way,” I explained.

I high five her and we continue talking all the way until the point where we miss the bus stop by one stop and we had to walk back. But it was okay though, it wasn’t too far. We made it in time and all I can say was that we ended up having more interviews than we had originally anticipated. And it turns out the person I was speaking to was the district manager.

I can’t say I need a job because I don’t, but trying something new wouldn’t be bad at all. I’m even surprised they called me back. I love yogurt but I’ve never worked in a self-serve before so it shouldn’t be all that bad if it happens. The district manager, Daryl, told me that they don’t have a manager yet but they are looking for shift leaders who can progress into being a manager. I haven’t managed anyone since 2008 so oh well. I never sweat but I perspired today and that’s a lot coming from me. Since the girl I met, Ashley, had a lot more experience and her being a manager right now already, I’ll be glad if she gets it and I don’t because she’s very qualified. But of course, if we both get it, that’d be great, too since we hit it off so well outside of Yogli Mogli.

Today really got me thinking that a car would be nice, but I’ve already made up my mind to get one at least past February. When I make plans, I have no intention to break them. It’s something I look forward to and when the day comes for me and Peter to pick up our car, I know we’ll be happy and in a better financial position because we’ve taken the steps to prepare for it.

I went to go eat today and I love my roasted pork Cuban-styled sandwich from Pepe’s Latin Cafe of Lenox Mall. It’s right next to Cloud 9 Cupcakes and it’s so good. It’s good food for cheap.

My mom has been pestering me about when I’m coming home to pick up Jackson. I don’t take him over there too much because I know she’s getting old and the whole babysitting does seem to have its effect on her. However, I really needed her today and the only reason why I’d stick him with her is if I was working. Of course, money makes the world go round because no matter how tired someone is, money will make everything better. I had to get home and pick up Jackson but so much has happened today.

I ran out of diapers today so I decided to go to Kroger before I went home to pick up some diapers and cat food before my cats decided to eat my face off while I slept. I’ve been feeding them hot dogs for the past two days. So when I got there, I was so tired that I contemplated taking a nap in the patio furniture section. I decided to spoil the kitties with a hefty bag of Fancy Feast. I grabbed the Huggies and the kitty mum-mums and headed for home. I don’t know I seem to enjoy the self-checkout. Some people don’t like it or think it’s a chore but I think of it as a game.

It’s funny because as I was trekking the two minute journey home, I got a cramp in my right calf and my leg buckled a bit. I straightened it out and tried to hurry home. A minute later, my left calf cramps up. Oh crap, if I don’t make it home now, I’m going to fall on my face! I hurried the hell up and made it home.

Also, I haven’t mentioned that I started to refinish the mirror the other day. It’s a mirror for a bedroom dresser but I’m going to turn it into a floating mirror/mantelpiece hooked to my wall. I haven’t had the time to work as fast as I usually get to so I’ve only had time to prime it thoroughly. I guess I would’ve been done by now but hey … kids. They don’t always do but they can get in the way.

So it’s been a very long day but it’s been a day well spent. My legs hurt but I guess all that walking that I haven’t done since forever will kick start my diet. I’ve got thirteen pounds to lose. It’s such a low number but I don’t even know how to approach it. As soon as I get back into gym mode, everything should be all better, I guess.
