Something’s Not Quite Right

So I just finished watching this video about a kid having his hand stepped on by an adult. The title of the video claims that it is in China but after viewing it countless numbers of times, either they are speaking a dialect that is considered the minority (not Mandarin or Cantonese) which means that this is somewhere in the country (explains the brutality) … or the fact that this did not really take place in China at all. Japan was known to cut off the hands of thieves back in the days …. Hmm. I am not trying to defend China blindly but it’s no coincidence that the Chinese have been taking a whole lot of social and political heat lately. I don’t know if it’s propaganda or just a huge change in the way people are but something is just not right.

In the video, the massive public surrounds a little light-skinned boy. People are supposedly saying that he stole something or bumped into an old lady (something along those lines). Everyone just stands around him while this one guy pretty much decides to teach the little kid a lesson by kicking him around and going as far as to stepping on his hand. I’ve heard someone say that they were telling the “white boy” to get lost/go home. A lot of white people are pissed. Yes, that little kid is very pale but Asians typically can be light-skinned, too.

I don’t condone violence and apathy at all, but I really can’t help but feel that we’re not getting the entire story here. It seems more like a goal lately to blame the Chinese for a lot of things.

Think about it. Put a video of something graphically violent and make sure you leave no background information or subtitles. All you see is a bunch of Asians being violent.

Hopefully, this all clears up soon. I’d rather question as much as possible than take everything shoved at me at face value. Either way, this situation needs some clarification.

UPDATE: Turns out that this kid tripped an old lady so he could pickpocket her. He got caught by the son of the old lady, the one who steps on the kid’s hand. I don’t know what to say or where to stand. I don’t want the kid to get hurt because what if he were my kid? I wouldn’t want that to happen. But another point is that the child got off easy as opposed to getting a hand chopped off or something. Also, it seems as though the kid is mixed with Chinese and (fill in the blank) … so he’s not just white. Not sure if that really matters, but hey, it is an update after all.
