Two Year Anniversary! And job offers left and right!

It’s been two years since I started this blog and I am so happy to have reached another milestone. I’m going to keep it short but it’s something worth blogging about. I know it’s going to take time but I’m going to keep trying with this blog. Not going to give up just yet.

Peter took fours days off and it was great to have been able to spend time with him and Jackson. Peter works 80+ hour weeks (I know many of you out there can probably top that but it’s still a lot more than 10 hours a week) so we were able to go to a birthday party, shop at IKEA, and enjoy our material goods of this world. School has been well. I am considering  taking the summer off although it may set me back a semester. I’m working on my Oglethorpe University application and I hope that goes well.

I had to record another monologue today for my theatre class and I love monologues. I do because I am really good at them and good at writing them. I still have some assignments for art, film, and political science, but it sounds like an easygoing weekend for me … that is if I am not working.

Speaking of working, I’ve been trying to get a part-time job …. part-time because that’s what most places are willing to offer nowadays. LOFT has since then fallen from the list. At least they were nice enough to send me a postcard. I’m kidding … no, it wasn’t nice. I applied for a temporary job that involved selling authentic African baskets at a Costco fair/convention thing. It would only be two weeks but $14/week isn’t bad either. Baby GAP has called pertaining to a second interview. I missed the call today but I’ve got to figure out what I want honestly. I just got a call from GAP for a first interview. I’m kind of torn. I can go into retail through GAP or I can go into concierge and the hospitality industry easily with a job at guest services. She said she had me on the schedule so I’m guessing I’ve got the job. Something about Friday, not sure if I work on Friday or if she will call me, if anything, I’ll just call her Friday morning. Man, the things I had to do for the guest services position. From countless emails, to voicemails, to SAT-like assessment tests, and background checks, I sure hope they treat me well.

I am afraid of working at Guest Services because I think people will rip me a new one if I can’t efficiently send them to the restroom. And there is gift card fraud too … I’m a pleasant person who gives good face, I should be fine. I guess I should start studying the map and store directory as well before Friday arrives.

I hope you all have been doing well and have fun with your spring cleaning. I know I did! And when it comes to spring cleaning, you have to buy a lot of stuff to replace all the old crap you just threw away. That’s it for today; I’ve got to go finish the IKEA leftovers from yesterday. I love broccoli medallions and I finally got them in the frozen pack. Here is a photo of the salmon spread and the crispy rolls I got from IKEA. Super tasty!Image

Quickie!

I just wanted to get a quick post out. Once again, so much keeps happening. Sage came by the other day and we’re pledging to revive or basically just dedicate more time to our blogs. I’m going to start writing a blog at least once a day. It is therapeutic and something I enjoy, so why not everyday?

I’ve been renovating the apt and I painted the lower level of my townhouse-styled apartment last week. I picked up some gadgets for the office from IKEA and Brandsmart USA yesterday so hopefully we can finish painting the upper level. It’s the hallway I am worried about; it’s over 15′ high. I can already imagine all the disastrous mishaps I’ll have with a ladder and an extended paint roller. I originally had the whole nautical and beach cabana concept in mind but what can I say … things just happened. The main walls of the living and dining are a pale silver-gray. The adjoining wall of my kitchen and dining room is a lavender (I’ll explain later but it’s basically feng shui stuff) and the bathroom is an almost muted blue. I REALLY need to get that dSLR because I hate the current one that I have and I don’t even feel like taking photos with them. I love making my posts vivid and full of photos so I’m going to work on that for you guys. I’ll clean up the house after tonight and take some photos before the new week begins during the day. All I can say is that this place looks spectacular. It stills needs a lot of TLC but I’m feeling the pride!

Anyway, I somehow forgot that IKEA lets kids eat for free on Tuesdays so it was a pleasant surprise yesterday. I tried their stuffed salmon and it was really good. I love the medallions, you know, the broccoli looking cakes made of broccoli and cheese, I presume. I think I saw them in the food section, but I was already on my way out and wanted to get home asap. I love going to IKEA because I feel like I get a whole lot of bang for my buck, I love their food, and because I love the constant flow of inspiration there. I can’t say I really trust to buy a couch or a dining table from them just because of quality reasons, but if you’re on a budget it’s definitely the place for you. I’m doing a lot of decorating so for the little things, like 20 photo frames, it’s worth it.

Here’s a photo of Jackson and Peter when we were in the dining area:

I love the Lingon Berry drink (bottom right) and the medallions ( bottom left and right).

I hope you all have been having a great week and I’ll be posting a great album of my recent horseback riding trip in the Cohutta wilderness tomorrow.
