It’s been such a slow day but good thing I was home for that and not actually stuck at work. I woke up around 10 AM and ended up surfing the web for an hour before allowing myself the slightest indulgence of playing The Sims 3. I haven’t played in maybe two months or so or at least whenever the last expansion pack was released. Island Paradise will be released next month and there are a few more stuff packs for the rest of this year. Next year, I presume, will be all about The Sims 4. I spent about five to six hours playing before I finally decided to take a nap.

My character is a genie living in the sticks with her cat. Unfortunately, I got her too into her career and the cat was taken away. I checked periodically to see if the cat would pop up as an “adoptable pet” but I haven’t seen it so far. Peter came home around 5 PM and I finally rolled out of bed about an hour ago.
I’d say the highlight of my day was being able to play some video games and also getting hyped up about the films that will be released this year. I just came across finding out that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is making his directorial debut with his film, Don Jon, in which he also wrote the screenplay for. It tells the tale of The Situation really … Well, JGL is a much more attractive version and even though his Jersey accent isn’t entirely on pointe, it’s believable.

It’s about a guy who is set on a certain lifestyle by his following words, “My body, my pad, my ride, my family, my church, my boys, my girls, my porn,” until he meets Drita D’Avanzo. Yes, I said Drita from MTV’s Mob Wives.

No no people, it’s really just a younger version of Drita with the same old husky voice played by Scarlett Johansson. I mention Drita because the voice, the drawl, the pout, and the hair all speak Drita to me. Drita is such as badass and a hot-headed lady and I did wonder what she was like, what all the Mob Wives were like, before they were scorned and toughened up from life experiences. Co-star Scarlett Johansson is the lady that turns Don Jon (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) around and there was a particular scene when they’re in the movie theater watching a sappy romance when her eyes began to twinkle and shine (the way we all do before life makes us bitter).

And I thought, “That’s what the real Drita would’ve been like back then!” It’s funny because this movie’s theme is about addiction. She’s addicted to sappy romance movies and he’s addicted to porn.

And, they’re both trying to work it out of course. The trailer didn’t show too much on what the movie is about but I’d say it’s a romantic comedy. I’m a big fan of JGL and I’m on the fence about SJ at the moment. I’ve seen her in a few films and she wasn’t very convincing. Beautiful? Yes. Convincing and talented? Not sure yet.
Even Channing Tatum and Anne Hathaway do a cameo in Don Jon!
I’ll leave you all with the trailer and I hope it gets you hyped as well. I’ve got another two days of work ahead of me and I’m just hoping the weekend won’t be too bad.
Here is the trailer for Don Jon:
Update: (Midnight) Sorry for posting this so late. I left to get my prescription and kind of never got back to my computer. Peter, Jackson, and I went on a search for Icee’s and after a few gas stations, we found one at the local Walmart. Yay!
