So I wasn’t able to make it to the Microsoft store for the Gears of War 3 launch party, but I am fortunate enough that my husband works for Microsoft. He came home with a bad of collector’s goodies for me to play with. The official launch party started last night from 10 pm until 1 am. My husband and I have been talking about the date a few weeks ago and we were pretty sure that no one was going to go since only a handful of people pre-ordered from the store. Boy, we were wrong.

According to Pete, there was already a line when he got to work at 2 pm and everyone literally stood there waiting in line until 10 pm. Not as bad as Black Tuesday, but no one expected that at all.

Anyway when he came home,  I was showered with the following:

collector’s edition poster

two special advance screening passes for The Thing movie  

Razer stickers, tattoos, stencils, “do not disturb” gaming door sign, coasters, keychains, lanyards

And I have a VIP Launch Gamer Pass for the Microsoft Store (receives $25 gift card when I attend the any or more of the game launch parties)!  

Overall, I am very happy that I got everything I would’ve gotten if I had went. There are three more launch parties for the remainder of this year: Battlefield 3, COD:MW3, and Halo:Combat Evolved Anniversary. Hopefully, they have launch parties for different genre games in the future.
